Dual-Speed Hub
The dual-speed hub is a 10/100Mbps hub with 16 RJ-45 dual speed ports on the front panel and one extra uplink 10/100 switching port. The RJ-45 ports auto-senses the connection speed, which can be either 10Mbps or 100Mbps without user’s intervention. The 10Mbps or 100Mbps connection will send the traffic to the corresponding internal segment, while traffic transverses within the device running at different speeds, it automatically switches to the other segments. The uplink switching port is used to extend the node to node distance between two hubs up to 300 meter without the 205 meter limitation mentioned in Fast Ethernet Class II Repeater standard. Moreover, more than two hubs can be cascaded through uplink ports rather than two hubs only in Fast Ethernet hubs. Each dual-speed hub has a build-in embedded switch module so it is really plug and play and you do not have to worry about the communication between 10Mbps and 100Mbps segments within the same hub.
